chrisfoxx.com Writer's Journal. |Monday, June 16, 2008| Yes, all of the teasing and taunting really is over, Chapter 55 of Sabrina the Story is posted!! Now, to get Chapter 56 finished in a mad scramble for posting next week! There have been a small multitude of things that've interfered with bringing you Chapter 55. My hospitalization last January. My new job. Fatigue. Lack of inspiration. Over-inspiration from across the pond. Forgetfulness. An old friend came in from out of town. There was a fire. An earthquake. Locusts. It wasn't my fault, I swear to G- aa-aaaa-aaaaawwww-wwww-wwww-d!!!! Yet, one of my biggest problems was two-fold. The beautiful thing about The Story is that it writes itself! All I have to do is watch and document, the same as Eric does with his comic (I can't understand where I am there, though). But nothing's been happening. Nothing. And the few things that did come, came right before I fell asleep, and come the morning all I had was a weak thumbnail of the last bit I saw before I drifted off. So, nothing. The other thing was that I created a monster. Racky Raccoon has come into his own and threw his heart and soul into Chapter 55, what you're going to read is mostly his work! Where's that problem? It isn't a problem, quite frankly. Racky felt what I've felt, he witnessed characters performing and doing their daily thing, and he just typed it all out. That's what good fiction writing is, after all: you don't write the words for the characters and force-fit them into it, you let them tell you what's going to happen and you let them run with it. So Chris and Sabrina and everyone hopped a plane and performed for Racky. Thankfully they DID come back and gave me something to write! And a lot of pages you'll read are mine. Many, many more, are his. And trust me, if I didn't think it was good, on-target, and in-character, I wouldn't have used it. He was near-perfect. So right now I'm finishing up a Christmas bit and he's finishing up a bit between Christmas and Y2K New Year's Eve. You may see two chapters here, there's certainly enough material! Not to mention I'd get it up faster if I did, I still have a good bit of clean-up work to do. New Chapter by this weekend. That's the Foxx's goal, or my name's not Earl Scheib. I also owe Teric a bi-iiii-ig apology!! The new chapter of A Little Life has been done and I dropped the ball in getting it posted in a timely manner. It's NOW POSTED in Variations on a Theme, I think you'll like it a lot! Plus, a new fan has contributed something as well, based on Tabitha -- and yes, work is resuming on that as well! I'll keep you posted, as soon as I get a hold of Mike Regan for his help with it. Now, are you coming to Anthrocon?? If you see me, step up and say "HELLO!". I'll be there, probably spending most of my time in the Dealer's Den. If you've never been to one, it's a blast and you really need to come by!
